My name is Natalia Sánchez Gutiérrez. I was born in Punta Arenas, a city in the heart of Chilean Patagonia, and lived there until I moved to Santiago de Chile in 2017.
I studied Visual Arts at the University of Chile and graduated with a degree as a Photographic Artist in 2024.
In 2024, I took part in my first group exhibition of analogue photography, and in March 2026 I held my first solo exhibition as part of a project that began with training in Sustainable Natural Dyeing in 2025 and concluded with the creation of a freely accessible digital art catalogue entitled Chromatisms at 33, 38 and 53 Degrees South: Dye Prospecting in Santiago, Temuco and Punta Arenas in 2026. I am currently studying the Diploma in Experimental Photography at Agora.
My experience at the school began when I enrolled in the Diploma in Experimental Photography, and it has gone far beyond education. For me, Agora has opened my eyes to a new world where experimentation, play and surprise come together within a process of artistic creation. Agora has broadened my perspective on how I see and experience the creative process, making me realise the importance of every step and of the results that emerge along the way. Through this, I have also learned to value technical mistakes, to discover that punctum I often failed to see before, and to enjoy every part of the image-making process.
On top of all this, Agora has opened the doors to an expanding community that is constantly creating and motivating me, through their art, to create and experiment alongside them.
I strongly believe that inspiration is something we need to actively seek out, and at Agora I have found the ideal space to do so while sharing experiences and acquiring new knowledge.
Highlight Project
Artistically, I am focused on the creation of artworks through interdisciplinary approaches, whether by experimenting with editing, printing or printmaking techniques such as cyanotype and screen printing, or with disciplines further removed from photography, such as textile art and the dyeing of fibres using natural and sustainable dyes.
Thematically, my work has a strong territorial and identity-based focus, through which I seek to convey the identity of the places that have shaped me by reinterpreting certain elements and using resources through sustainable processes.
My first solo exhibition, entitled Chromatisms at 33, 38 and 53 Degrees South: Dye Prospecting in Santiago, Temuco and Punta Arenas, was shown at the Juan Egenau Gallery of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Chile in March 2026 as part of a FONDART project (National Fund for the Arts). On 9 July, the exhibition opened at the Matta-Sur Community Centre in Santiago, where it remained on view throughout the month. In addition, some works from the exhibition were recently included in a group exhibition entitled Botánica y Aves, organised by Uprint Chile in Barrio Italia, Santiago.
