Experimentelle Fotografie
Hajek-Halke, Heinz
Photography as art, especially abstract and highly modern photography, often sparks controversy. Hajek Halke impresses with his confident mastery in this field. It is not for nothing that he was appointed to study artistic photography at the Berlin University of Fine Arts. His book is intended to teach you both how to see and how to work at the same time. Halke's experimental work ranges from so-called tabletop photography to exposure and wire montages, as well as light graphics. Light graphics are the most contemporary means of artistic expression. They require complete mastery of the craft, using the entire range of technical equipment "uninhibitedly," often completely bypassing the camera, which is replaced by the enlarger. Wire montage, on the other hand, is, strictly speaking, a wire sculpture that only achieves its intended effect through movement in front of the recording camera. Depending on the desired effect, either the camera moves towards the wire sculpture, or the sculpture is moved while the camera remains stationary. Corrected text: Exposure montages are created by combining multiple partial recordings into a cohesive whole, while in tabletop photography, a unique world is built on the table by disregarding real proportions. Hajek Halke is probably the only person in Germany who consciously developed the tradition of the former Bauhaus Dessau (Moholy-Nagy). His work is mature and stimulating enough to be presented to interested parties.
