Alternative Processes and Toning in Van Dyke Brown

In this workshop, you will learn the Van Dyke Brown photographic technique, a handcrafted process that uses ultraviolet light and iron and silver salts to create warm-toned prints. We will go through everything from safely preparing the emulsion and coating papers to creating digital negatives and exposing them using sunlight or UV lamps. We’ll develop, fix, and explore creative toning, as well as waxing techniques for protection and final finishing. Each participant will create several prints. Ideal for lovers of analog photography and alternative processes.
