Fotografía y Estampa

Ramos Guadix, Juan Carlos & Peláez Camazón, Alicia

The current union between photography and engraving not only facilitates new and renewed plastic results but also provides a new alternative to digital processes of creation and printing. Photography, through graphic reproduction, brings to light a new aesthetic by stripping it of its usual silver emulsion frame (photographic paper). It is with a gelatin printing system that it gains in durability and plasticity. Since the development of heliogravure in the 19th century, there has been no other medium capable of photographically translating a full range of tonal values onto a plate. The photopolymer plate technique not only possesses this quality but also showcases its creative potential as a means of expression. Additionally, we can discuss one of the techniques that fall under the category of non-toxic engraving in the graphic world, one of the most valued qualities in this field, where its tradition has left a significant legacy of highly toxic materials. Therefore, we are talking about a technique advantageous for both the contemporary graphic era and the health of the user and the environment.
